I got's me some questions damn it!
Sometimes when you are reading a comic, or watching a movie or TV show you have questions. Questions that are never answered. Sometimes it's because of time, sometimes it's because the writers didn't think it through, so here are a few of the questions that keep me up at night (well that and the insomnia!)
Gremlins-
So you cannot feed the Mogwai after midnight or it turns into an evil reptilan gremlin. but at what point is it safe to resume feeding your mogwai without having the little bugger become a cackling ball of teeth, claws and attitude? Is it sun up? Noonish? What, See now if someone ever give
s me a mogwai, I might have to let the poor little bastard starve becasue frankly I don't know when it's safe to feed it!
Highlander-
So if they loose their heads they die right? what about if you chop em in half? exactly what portion of the body has to leave the cranial region to be considered adios immortal? if he looses his head and shoulders will he spend hours or days in agony as the rest of his body regenerates, or will he just buy the farm right there, what about if we Darth Maul him, then what? hey should I ever need to fight the Kurrigan for the prize this info would be damned important!
Star Wars (Episodes 1-3)
O.K. so if midichlorians are the source of the force the micro organisms that literally do all the heavy lifting in the Star Wars universe, and we know that concentration of them in the blood is important (Obi Wan freaks when he finds out Anican's concentration is even greater than that of fabled Jedi Master Yoda. so then do amount of midi chlorians matter? Sure Yoda could put the smackdown on Anican just on the raw power vs skill in using. (I.E. if vader is more powerful he lacks Yoda's skill with manipulating them) Are some areas more or less force heavy (and would this matter?) when Vader lost about 30-30% of his body in Episode 3 did this affect his ability to use the force if he had less Midichlorians, and if not, Why not?
Field of Dreams-
How the F*** did they mistake this for heaven? I have lived in Iowa for most of my life, don't get me wrong it's a great place to live, but Heaven? really? Oh come on now! drive the boarder any time from any bordering state, Kansas, Illinois, Missouri, take your pick! Do you hear choirs of seraphim or harps when you hit the state line? neither do I.
Transformers (Original cartoon movie, not the Michael Bay crap!)-
how is it that when the Ark crash landed and left the autobots and decepticons in a massive scrapheap within, then some 5 thousand years later was able to build them all good as new from shattered parts. but about 5-6 good hits from Megatron, and Prime dies? Why the hell couldn't the ark/teletran 1 not just reassemble him from the damn blueprints? it makes no GODDAMN SENSE!
Anyway these are the kind of thoughts that plague me, Maybe I need to have a soak in the tub with some Mr. Bubble, and figure it all out...

The League of Extrodinary Bloggers- Waddaya Want?
Thinking immediately about Babylon-5, I have to reply "Do not ask this question again!" but seriously, I don't do a ton of garage sales, mostly because i am disappointed in the ones I have gone to recently. However dreams chance and all, I would love to walk into a garage sale, or thrift shop and find this-
The play make SDF-1 playset, it was a cardboard monstrosity that spans 5' in length and designed to serve as a toybox as well as a massive anime themed playset. I had one but it was destroyed in the move of 1991, and honestly I think finding another one would be slightly harder than brokering peace in the middle east, and stopping the government shutdown simultaneously. This want is only exacerbated by paladium's release of Robotech RPG tactics, a miniatures game set in the Robotech world. This would be an amazing piece of terrain to use with the 1.5 inch mecha of that game. Imagine it, swarming with advancing Zentraedi battlepods, and the Veritechs desperately defending their adopted home. god it makes me want to cry.
But there is no point crying over spilled milk, or lost massive space battle cruisers. Of course there are other things I would happy to find as well, such as many of these beauties.
Starcom was a line of toys by Coleco, maker of the Cabage patch kid, and of course the Coleco Vision. The line was more or less a group of slightly smaller than M.A.S.K. sized astronaut figures with very cool vehicles. Besides some amazing designs, including vehicles designed for modular deployment, many vehicles had movement actions using wind up motors to simulate slow openings or movements like a space vehicle, why no one before or since has employed this is a mystery. The Starmax bomber, one of the coolest vehicles in the line is pictured above, but there are quite a few very cool vehicles, they also sported metal panels and the figures had magnetic feet. This allowed them to look like they were doing space walks and the like, very cool. but also very overpriced on Ebay, so...
So that's my quick list. Here's what the rest of the league wants-
The Garage Sale of Awesome hunts the deadly NES (the most Dangerous game!)
The Thirtyish year old boy pines about Star Wars figures
Jamie looks for Hannah Swanson books
The Nerd Cantina want's everything...
The Nerd Nook is in it for the nostalgia.
The Nerd out of time is on the hunt for legos (and Snozzberries!)
Goodwill Hunting for Geeks, looks for a lot including Madballs
Kal doesn't want to rebuild him despite having the technology.
and
My Vintage Toybox is on the hunt for Shogun Warriors, Battle Beasts and Jem!

5 Best Canadian Comedies
A while back I did a top 10 british comedies list and while my love of British comedies comes from living over there, I find it amazing that Canadian TV for the most part was completely under my radar. Sharing a border, a language and even having similar accents (Pre Harry Potter, that "funny accent" of the british was a common complaint I heard when trying to introduce British comedies to my friends) and yet our neighbors to the north rarely get play in the US beyond the borders. There are a few that do (Most notably Trailer Park Boys which gets a by for it's family Guy/Southpark level of humor, and Degrassi which played on public TV a lot) but there is a lot more up there probably even more than this paltry list shows (hence the top 5 not top ten) but there is a lot high quality TV up there, here is just a sampling of my favorites.
5- Little Mosque on the Prairie- Thanks to the miracle of the internet, and Hulu needing some original progamming this show is available readily in the US, I kept seeing ads for it when we were on Hulu, so why not? My wife (a bit of a hardcore catholic herself) fell instantly in love with the series. A small town with a heavy muslim community, the show focuses on Amir their mosques new Imam. It is the kind of wholesome comedy you can watch with the family, except xenophobic uncle Bob who will flat out refuse.
4-Puppets who Kill- A halfway house for criminal puppets may not sound like an appealing concept, but hot damn does this ever work. The group dynamic is pretty spot on and has a great mix of heartwarming and creepy to work. Plus who doesn't like Bill?
2-The Kids in the Hall- One of my favorite sketch comedy shows of all time, the Canadian group brought us so many incredible characters. MC Simon Milligan, and Hecubus, The Flying Pig, The Sizzler Sisters, and let's not forget Buddy Cole. ahead of it's time and still a work of genius, it's no shock that this one was a hit in both countries.
1-SCTV- Saturday Night Live is practically an institution at this point. I doubt it will ever go off the air. with it's 38 year old history, and being a breeding ground for talent from John Belushi to Phil Hartman to Kristen Wigg. But this was the show that the original not ready for prime time players followed. it was the comedian's comedy show. It was also a lot tighter than SNL using the backdrop of a 3rd rate UHF Station run by Guy Cabbelero as a backdrop, the sketches weaved into this tapestry. Even the musical acts were part of the show, as opposed to the SNL let's take a break from the comedy and suffer through the flavor of the month band. the musical acts in SCTV were part of the show. Case in point: John Cougar Melloncamp, appeared in a parody of The Jerry Lewis film in which Ed Grimley (Played by Martin Short) took the potion and transformed into Melloncamp. He then played about half a a song (Jack and Diane) before reverting back to Grimley who tried in desperation to complete the set. and Just like SNL and Kids in the Hall, there were so many damned awesome characters, from Count Floyd, and Johnny LaRue, to the Makenzie Brothers and Edna Prickley. It's Canada's Monty Python. and a true classic.

Prom night is coming...
even though they use a bit of revamped music from that movie I just blogged about despising, it is based on George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones, so it gets a pass.
plus the opening credits are amazing.
and they got Littlefinger!

So What is Nerd Rage?
I have tried to blog a few times before with limited results, (either I didn't stick with it, or it seemed to be going no where) but I am rather optimistic about this subject. So you may ask what is "nerd rage"? So here is just a quick sampling of what nerd rage means to me.
NERD RAGE IS
NERD RAGE IS
When the re-release of a game you love takes all of the games sacred cows to the abattoir
The killing of a comic icon to cheaply boost sales of the comic.
Reviving the comic icon because people cry about him being gone.
What you feel when think about what Fox did to Firefly.
When you have spent hundreds on buying and hours painting an army for warhammer only for the new edition to nerf the hell out of it.
Finding out your favorite comic is going to become a movie, as little as you have seen in the preview makes you realize they have ruined it. But yet you pay $12.00 to see it in the theatre anyway
finding out that there is going to be a really cool action figure released, only at Comicon, ha ha loser, hope you don't have to pay too much when we gouge you for it on Ebay later.
Watching the kind of jackasses you went to school with who gave you no end of crap for being into comics now rave about the newest comic book movies "Dude totally loved the Avengers, I am so like Tony Stark!"
Embodied in the character of River Song, Oh how I loathe her marysue Doctor Who ruining ass!
Is seeing how corporate America treats some of your favorite stories, such as using Green Lantern to hock Hot Wheels, or the Hobbit to push crappy food at Denny's
More on this later.
